THIS IS THE LOCAL FIRM

THIS IS OUR STORY

THE CONCEPT

The Local Firm is a Swedish based fashion jeans brand with a distinctive design code that combines high fashion with innovative jeans design. The first collection hit the market in fall 2008.
The Local Firm´s core concept is inspired by the European Industrial age and German Bauhaus movement in the beginning of the 20th century. The Bauhaus movement represented a school of thought that promoted functionalism and minimalism through fundamental materials, shapes and colours.

THE DRIVE

Style is up to everyone to find out for themselves. As a result of that we all love certain garments, looks or colour ranges and can go out of our reach for that one piece that means everything. The Local Firm’s ambition is to create the ultimate jeans- based wardrobe every season. The design concept “A contrast of status” is a cross-wardrobe based thought that combines garments and materials that distinguish themselves by contrasting one another, offering a strong, grey and surprising collection.

THE BAUHAUS MOVEMENT

The Bauhaus movement has its roots in the German school of modernist arts called the Bauhaus. The school was founded 1919 by Walter Gropius in Weimar, Germany. Gropius founded the school as a reaction against the contemporary art scene.
The Bauhaus movement is more than anything influenced by the German modernism and the style signum is the absence of ornamentation. Its goal is to create harmony between the function of an object or building and its design.

The movement is associated with radically simplified forms and lack of ornamentation. The core idea of the movement was that the shape of an object should first of all be based on its intended function or purpose. The use of simple shapes and minimalism allowes for the materials to speak for themselves and the functions to become part of the design.

THE TLF TRIBE

We’ve often been asked about the age span of people that are wearing The Local Firm, or their professions. The answer is that we prefer not to label people according to age, employment or geographical inherence. The Local Firm is about the type of style, garments, look and mind- set that we love. Like- minded has rallied up forming what we have come to call “The TLF Tribe”- A mix of jeans- wearing, fashion-loving, club-kid, music- devoted, creative group of people. Someone once called the TLF Tribe for “The fashion kids from wrong side of the tracks”. We love that expression. Especially considering that the wrong side have always been a creative hotbed and the right side in terms of new expressions.

A PAIR OF JEANS

No other garment in the history of clothing has a more fantastic and passionate story than the jeans, and no other garment has been loved over generations or has left a more intensive impression than the jeans. There is no other garment that gets under your skin and as close to your heart as a pair of jeans with a perfect fit, fabric and colour. A perfect pair of jeans is loved by its bearer and becomes synonymous with his or hers person.

That’s why we love jeans.

PRODUCTION

An average pair of jeans from The Local Firm is made of 1,25m of denim and 0,2m of lining fabric divided into a total of 17 different pieces, 106,5m of thread, 6 rivets, 1 button and 1 zipper. The jeans are put together using 37 separate operations.
The end- product itself depends on a mutual goal from both designer and garment manufacturer, where long-term commitments are vital. We’re therefore only working with the same handful of weavers, laundries and garment suppliers today as we did the very first season.
Quality, fit, comfort, colour and sustainability are key factors in our production philosophy. A garment from The Local Firm is made to last and allow the bearer the love it over a long time.

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL HERITAGE

We consider minimizing the environmental imprint and contributing to equal respect for all humans as our fundamental awareness as well as our greatest responsibilities. As part of this work and philosophy we are not interested in short term goals as production in low cost countries. We only produce our collections with our close production partners that share our vision and where sustainability and code of conduct are as normal part of the work as the manufacturing itself.
